Ancient Ethics for the Modern World with Susan Sauvé Meyer
Join Penn Philosophy Professor Susan Sauvé Meyer and University of Central Florida Assistant Professor of Philosophy Brian Reese for an illuminating discussion on what we can learn from studying ancient thinkers like Aristotle and how we can apply those lessons to our lives today.

Susan Sauvé Meyer specializes in Ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and has a new book on Aristotle’s ethics, How to Flourish: An Ancient Guide to Living Well, recently reviewed in The New Yorker and part of the series "Ancient Wisdom for Modern Readers" published by Princeton University Press. A recent blog post gives a sneak preview of some Aristotelian advice about how to be a good person on social media. Her two free, open-access courses, Plato and His Predecessors and Aristotle and His Successors, have enrolled thousands on Coursera. Brian Reese specializes in Plato and received the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching during his time at Penn. His prior experience also includes serving as Assistant Editor for the Whitney Museum of Art and Assistant Managing Editor for the academic journal Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie.
Professor Reese will moderate this wide-ranging discussion about the life of the mind and the wisdom of the ancients.
