Tate Modern, Starr Cinema

Modeled after the popular TED Talks, Ben Talks give our acclaimed faculty an opportunity to deliver their “ideas worth sharing,” bringing to life Penn’s innovative vision.
What do objects—both artistic and everyday—tell us about culture and history? This panel of Penn experts will explore the ways in which art and artifacts reflect, preserve, and challenge societal narratives. From contemporary art collecting to ancient Roman peasant life, the discussion will reveal how material culture connects us to human experiences across time. Join us for a dynamic conversation on the power of objects in shaping our collective past and present.
A light reception and conversation with fellow alums will open the evening, followed by our faculty panel and post-reception.
