Ben Talks NYC presents The Fragile Earth: Sea, Land, and Sky
5th Avenue New York, NY, 10018
How do the vulnerabilities of coral reefs, the fragility of the Earth’s thin skin, and the accelerating expansion of the universe come together to tell a story about where our planet has been and where it’s going?
Join us for a lively evening at the Overlook in the iconic Bryant Park with three Penn scientists to find out. Our 2024 Ben Talks program will feature Katie Barott, an expert on the biology and ecology of coral reef systems; Doug Jerolmack, an experimental geophysicist who seeks to understand how landscapes form and evolve on Earth and other planets; and Mark Trodden, a theoretical particle cosmologist who is working to understand what the accelerating expansion of the universe can teach us about the fundamental laws of nature.
A dinner reception and warm conversation with fellow alums opens the evening followed by our faculty panel and dessert post-reception.
