Penn Science Café: COVID-19 and Decision-Making Under Uncertainty
The pandemic has entered a new phase, full of new questions. A nationwide press to loosen restrictions comes just as we are going into an apparent “fourth wave” of infections. Vaccines are becoming more broadly available – but will enough people choose to be vaccinated? How do we decide when to go to restaurants, get on a plane, or return to the classroom in this environment of uncertainty?
In this virtual Penn Science Café, two experts on decision making look at what research has to say about the processes underlying the choices we make. The program will feature Joseph Kable, the Baird Term Professor of Psychology and Director of MindCORE, in conversation with Barbara Mellers, I. George Heyman University Professor in Psychology and Marketing.
