Philosophy's Lisa Miracchi Receives NEH Grant to Study AI

Lisa Miracchi, Associate Professor of Philosophy

Lisa Miracchi, Associate Professor of Philosophy, has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for her project, New Foundations for the Study of Biological and Artificial Intelligence. The grant will provide support during the research and writing of a forthcoming book exploring the distinction between artificial and human intelligence. Miracchi, who is affiliated with Penn’s MindCORE initiative and the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, and Perception (GRASP) Lab, studies questions related to the mind and intelligence, including the effective and ethical development and application of AI and robotic systems. Her work draws on the cognitive sciences, AI, robotics, epistemology, and ethics.
