Chemistry Professors to Receive 2020 American Chemical Society National Awards

Abraham Nitzan, Donner Professor of Physical Sciences, and Daniel Mindiola, Brush Family Professor of Chemistry, will receive 2020 American Chemical Society (ACS) National Awards at the upcoming ACS Meeting in Philadelphia. ACS, which was founded in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress, is the world’s largest scientific society. Their mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners, and to improve people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry.

Nitzan will receive the ACS Award in Theoretical Chemistry. His research focuses on theoretical aspects of chemical dynamics, the branch of chemistry that describes the nature of physical and chemical processes that underline the progress of chemical reactions with the aim to achieve understanding of such processes and the ability to predict their course of evolution.

Mindiola will receive the F. Albert Cotton Award in Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry. His research focuses the synthesis of early- and mid-transition metal complexes, especially systems that are unsaturated and reactive.
