Dorothy Roberts and Sarah Tishkoff Elected to NASEM Committee

Dorothy Roberts, George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology, and Sarah Tishkoff, David and Lyn Silfen University Professor of Genetics and Biology, have been selected by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to serve on the Committee on Use of Race, Ethnicity, and Ancestry as Population Descriptors in Genomics Research. The committee will conduct a study to review and assess existing methodologies, benefits, and challenges in the use of race and ethnicity and other population descriptors in genomics research and is expected to issue a report that will describe best practices.
NASEM works to provide independent, objective advice to inform policy with evidence, spark progress and innovation, and confront challenging issues for the benefit of society.
