English Professor Discusses Django Unchained And More

Assistant Professor of English Salamishah Tillet sat down with Penn Current to talk about the derivation of her name, her thoughts on Django Unchained, and her quest to end violence against women and girls.

Her book Sites of Slavery: Citizenship and Racial Democracy in the Post-Civil Rights Imagination examines why and how contemporary African American artists, writers, and intellectuals remember antebellum slavery within post-Civil Rights America.
