Feride Hatiboglu Elected to National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages

Feride Hatiboglu, a lecturer in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations

Feride Hatiboglu, a lecturer in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, has been elected to the board of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL) for a two-year term. In her capacity as current president of the American Association of Teachers of Turkic Languages (AATT), Hatiboglu was also a member of the team that developed and published a new Curricular Framework for College-Level Turkish Instruction.

Born in Ankara, Turkey, Hatiboglu started to teach Turkish at Penn in 2005, and in only a few years, the Turkish Language Program became a successful multi-leveled language program with Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, and Ottoman Turkish programs under Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC) and Turkish Cinema under the Penn Language Center. She is an active member of the American Research Institute in Turkey.
