Penn Arts and Sciences Faculty, Grad Students Receive Teaching Awards

Steven J. Fluharty, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and Dennis DeTurck, Dean of the College, have announced the recipients of the School’s 2014 teaching awards, to be presented on Thursday, May 1, at an awards reception that is open to the University community. The reception will take place from 4-6 p.m. in 200 College Hall.

In addition, four members of the Penn Arts and Sciences faculty are recipients of University-wide teaching awards. Charles Kane, Class of 1965 Professor of Physics; Heather Love, R. Jean Brownlee Term Associate Professor of English; and Philip Rea, Professor of Biology, will receive the Lindback Award, the University’s highest teaching honor. In addition, Rogers Smith, Christopher H. Browne Distinguished Professor of Political Science, was honored with the Provost’s Award for Distinguished Ph.D. Teaching and Mentoring. All members of the Penn community are invited to a reception honoring the 2013-2014 recipients of the University teaching awards on Monday, April 28, at 5 p.m. in the Hall of Flags, Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce Street.
