During their time at Penn, faculty may receive funding for their research in connection with a named endowed chair (either permanent or term), or in connection with various forms of service to the School such as administration or advising.
In support of the research of faculty at different stages of their careers, the School awards a minimum of a $5000 research fund on appointment as an assistant professor, and an additional $7500 upon promotion to associate professor with tenure and to full professor (these grants are subsumed in, and do not supplement, any allocation of research funds associated with a retention or award of a term or endowed chair).
See guidelines.
