University Research Foundation (URF)

Associate and full professors.  Assistant professors are invited to apply but must also submit a letter from their department chair describing their research independence.

Instructors and research associates may apply but must establish (by letter from Department Chair) that the applicant will receive an appointment as an Assistant Professor by the time of the award.

Applications must be reviewed and signed by your Business Administrator prior to submission

Applications must be submitted to the SAS Dean’s Office at least one day prior to the deadline publicized by the URF/Office of the Vice Provost for Research via the SAS online web submission form. Staff in the SAS Dean’s Office will ensure that the application receives the required signature from the SAS Dean and submit your application to the Vice Provost for Research on your behalf, sending a copy of the signed application to you and your business administrator.

Eligible faculty are strongly encouraged to submit the same proposal to be considered for an SAS Research Opportunity Grant or Conference Support Grant, as SAS and URF grant reviewers collaborate to maximize awards for proposals that have been selected to receive funding. Please note that, while the same proposal narrative and budget should be submitted for both opportunities (and should clearly indicate what funding sources should cover which expenses in the budget), separate submission and cover sheets are required.
